The Office of International Student Services is now accepting applications from Deree – The American College of Greece?students for the 2019 Heritage Greece Program!
Heritage Greece is an educational program designed to enable Greek American and Greek Canadian college students to immerse themselves in Greek language and culture, while connecting with their Hellenic ancestry. For Deree – The American College of Greece students, this program is an opportunity to view ethnic identity from the perspective of Greek American?and Greek Canadian peers and facilitate their interactions with the local community in Greece.
This year’s program dates are: June 8 – 23, 2019. You will have the opportunity to learn with and from Greek American and Greek Canadian participants while:
- Visiting urban Athenian life and helping Canadian and American college students communicate in authentic situations
- Touring important archaeological and cultural sites
- Experiencing rural life in a traditional island village
- Developing team leadership and organizational skills
Participants in this exciting program receive a €1,000 scholarship?towards tuition for outbound study abroad to one of our exchange universities, in addition to the following:
- A comprehensive educational and cultural itinerary
- Meals and transportation
- Numerous field trips to urban and cultural sites
Deree students who have participated in previous Heritage Greece sessions are welcome to apply again. However, the scholarship will not be re-offered to these students, as there is only one scholarship available per student.
This unique program has been developed by the National Hellenic Society and is hosted by Deree – The American College of Greece.
